The Point Bar and Grill proudly presents live music sessions with Craig Ballantyne.

Craig Ballantyne’s song-writing history has spanned an impressive 40 years. As a youngster growing up in Scotland, he started writing at an early age and soon played with or fronted school band projects before forming the band Distant Echoes in 1980. They played regular pub shows until Craig immigrated to Australia a few years later.

In Perth, Craig joined original/covers rock band The Hurricanes, and continued writing and co-writing with his new band members. They played and toured often around WA. When the Hurricanes split, Craig continued writing as a solo singer/songwriter and released a couple of albums, ‘Drunk’ and ‘Perfect World’. These releases led to impressive support slots for acts such as Bryan Adams, Savage Garden, The Black Sorrows, Mark Seymour and many more.

A few years later, he formed a small rock trio called ‘The Jury’. They released a 4 track EP, and the title track, (the satirical song ‘Bill Clinton’), gained airplay on Triple J and further exposure on TV shows including ‘Good News Week’ at the time. Locally, Craig’s many various projects have appeared on pub stages, festivals and also proudly often appeared as entertainment on charity fundraising TV productions like Telethon. In 2012, Craig formed the musical project 46 Brigade. They released an original pop/rock album called “Reverse the Future” which drew acclaim from various commercial radio stations. One of the songs from the album, Soldier, was picked up by Legacy, a charity for retired servicemen and their families, and it featured as a soundtrack for their nationwide advertising campaign. It was also broadcast on screen at Domain Stadium, at every home AFL game for the Eagles and Dockers throughout the 2013 season. 46 Brigade also featured as pre match entertainment, live at the stadium for the Fremantle Dockers AFL Anzac Commemoration, in April 2013.

Craig continues to write and perform around Western Australia, and is currently tracking material for a series of EP’s intended for release over the next 12 months. With a recent appearance at Bridgetown Blues Festival under his belt.

Craig is also currently performing a series of intimate solo acoustic shows, highlighting songs from his impressive back catalogue of original music.
